Hello everyone!

I could really use some help from you guys.
The thing is i have to do an assignment for my university and my scripting skills are very limited.
The requirements are that it is a file management script aimed to help administrators save time in executing certain tasks.

Any help is much appreciated! HELP! :-*

Alice22,

It's quite hard not to take the piss out of this request as it says nothing!
bash is certainly good for file management tasks, but then again so is ontapp.

You will need to attempt to write the script itself and then if you get stuck with particular issues we can try to help :)

Don't forget, we're not just going to do your homework for you!

Have a go yourself first.

Nono most certainly not, im not asking from u guys to do the whole thing for me, i just need help with suggestions or examples of code or something.

I am supposed to use Bash only and i have to "translate" it on Batch aswell because i am requested to do it in both Linux and Windows O.S.
And yes, sorry i wasnt clear enough i must code a menu driven script that will be able to execute functions like add and remove users, back up files, diplay important system information, comparing files and show differences something like that.

Thank you :)

And perhaps DarthWavy wasn't clear enough, so let me quote him again

Yes i know, im still working on it.
I have a big workload for my other modules at the moment so as soon as i come up with something i will post them here and get any feedback or guidance from you guys.
The reason i made this post was to get any ideas beforehand to get like an "overview" of what i will do.
As i said before im really really bad in programming and never attempted any scripting.
Im not trying to get u do all the work for me....

Thank you

Try this as a start:
http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/
Although it says advanced it starts quite simple and shows basic stuf like loops, if/then, case etc
