Hello Forum,

I would like to backup folder based on numeric due to ext3 limitation only 32,000 folders can be contain within a path. Anyone have a procedure or array that can loop using rsync to start and stop each new job.

so for example 1 - 32000 is first one
example 32001 - 52000 is second one

so rsync -vr /var/www/photos/$variables X.X.X.X:/BackupDrive/photos01/

I'm not sure we understand exactly what the goal is :) If the numbers are sequential, you can use something like "seq"

Code:
for i in $(seq 1 32000);do
  echo $i
done

Does that help?

Thanks!
