I want to call a given number, proceed through the menu options till i get the department I desire, enter in more digits and then record the remote output. remote output is a response to a question proposed and what the caller decides they should do.

using ubuntu 10.04
us robotics usb modem

i have looked into kermit and things of that nature but all i want is a primitive script that pulls the information from a text file.
one line at a time and enters the extenstions i want. then upon connecting to the employee they have the option of providing a response which is recorded.

nobody knows how to create an autodial script or how one would approach one?

I don't have time to look it up but as a starter this may help. My knowledge is very out of date.
