Thank you for sharing your work, Crouse!

However, I think that using bash-scripted GUI for encryption software is not something to advocate. I am not a security expert, but I think that using such scripts is potentially dangerous.

For example, --passphrase "$decryption_key" means that any other user on a multiuser machine can see the password with simple ps o args.

Maybe that problem can be solved using this code before call 'gpg' to encrypt/decrypt:

passphrase = echo "$passphrase" | md5sum -


Edited: Sorry, I was wrong, this will solve nothing, bad idea.
